Giuseppe Recco

(1634 - 29 May 1695) was a still life Italian painter. Born in Naples, he likely apprenticed with his family, including his father Giacomo Recco and uncle Giovan Battista Recco. His children both son Nicolo and daughter Elena were also painters. A large part of his output was painted in Spain, where his assemblies of victuals, both vegetable and animal, were popular. It is claimed he was influenced by the neapolitan Giovanni Battista Ruoppolo. Recco died at Alicante, Spain.  Related Paintings of Giuseppe Recco :. | A Still Life of Roses, Carnations, Tulips and other Flowers in a glass Vase, with Pastries and Sweetmeats on a pewter Platter and earthenware Pots, on | Nature morte au gibier | Still-life with fish. | The City Outskirts | A Still Life of Roses, Carnations, Tulips and other Flowers in a glass Vase, with Pastries and Sweetmeats on a pewter Platter and earthenware Pots, on |

He studied under Leon Cogniet, Alexandre Cabanel and William-Adolphe Bouguereau. From the 1870s, his popularity grew quickly. In 1874 he was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. He created several works of lasting popularity, including Le Printemps, featuring two young lovers sitting upon a swing, and The Storm. BEGA, Cornelis
Dutch Baroque Era Painter, ca.1620-1664 Dutch painter, draughtsman and etcher. He was born into prosperous circumstances; his mother, Maria Cornelis, inherited half the estate (gold, silver, paintings, drawings and prints) and all of the red chalk drawings of her father, Cornelis Cornelisz. van Haarlem, a renowned Mannerist artist. Bega's father was Pieter Jansz. Begijn (d 1648), a gold- and silversmith. Like other family members, Bega was probably Catholic. Houbraken's claim that Bega studied with Adriaen van Ostade is likely to be correct; this was probably before 24 April 1653, when Bega joined Vincent Laurentsz. van der Vinne in Frankfurt for a journey through Germany, Switzerland and France. Bega had returned to Haarlem by 1 September 1654, at which time he joined the Guild of St Luke.
